At Seacoast Literacy Solutions, LLC, we utilize a structured literacy approach, which is diagnostic and explicit in its approach to literacy instruction. Although this is beneficial for all students, this approach is essential for students with disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or specific learning disabilities in reading and writing.
Structured literacy breaks reading down into the essential components identified by that the National Reading Panel, and ensures that all skills are taught to mastery in a systematic and cumulative way. With extensive experience in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LiPS, Visualizing and Verbalizing, and more, practitioners use a variety of tools to help students meet their learning goals.
Our instruction is data driven; we utilize DIBELS 8th edition as a primary means to understand each student’s strengths and weaknesses, develop a structured approach to intervention, and track student progress. This information, especially when considered in conjunction with the data generated by schools, performance-based testing, and other outside providers, helps us target each student’s instruction to their individual needs.
